Municipal Police Officer Exam Information Session

The City of Cambridge is currently recruiting applicants to take the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Open Competitive Examination for Police Officer Cities and Towns/ MBTA Transit Police which is being held on Saturday April 25, 2009. The early application deadline is March 18, 2009, with an application fee of $100.00.  Final application date is April 1, 2009, with a fee of $150.00.

Representatives from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Human Resources Division (HRD) will be on hand to accept applications, fees (no personal checks or cash accepted) and to answer questions.  There will also be representatives from the Cambridge Police and Personnel Departments to answer questions about this exciting career opportunity.

When filing an application, applicants MUST enter the correct announcement number. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBERS AFTER THE TEST IS GIVEN ON APRIL 25, 2009.

  • If you want your exam results to apply for BOTH the Police Officer, Cities and Towns & MBTA Transit Police AND the Trooper, Massachusetts Department of State Police test, use announcement number 8434. (Exam Title for item #11: Police Officer/Trooper )
  • If you want your exam results to apply for the Police Officer, Cities & Towns & MBTA Transit Police test ONLY, use announcement number 8265. (Exam Title for item #11: Police Officer)

The results of this April 2009 examination will be merged with the police officer exam results from 2008, resulting in a new Police Officer eligible list on or about November 1, 2009. This will be used to fill police officer vacancies in the City of Cambridge and many other cities and towns and for the MBTA Transit Police Department.

To be eligible to take the exam, you must be at least 21 years of age as of April 25, 2009. For the City of Cambridge there is no maximum age.
