The Police have what is called ”Cambridge Police Department Community Grants”.
I have applied for the maximum available, $500 for CHNA and I believe that there should be no problem having this approved.
The money will be used for a Block Party that is planned for:
Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006 12pm – 3pm at The Rafferty Park (behind Sancta Maria Nursing Facility)
1. The money can be used for anything BUT FOOD.
2. It can be used for paper products, popcorn machine, art supplies, etc.
3. We plan have hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, etc. We will have to collect a small fee from each family for the food and this ammount will be
determined later.
4. Te Police will be there and we have requested a fingerprinting kit for the parents to have for the kids. They will also discuss crime in the neighborhood.
5. We plan on having games and activities for the kids to do which will be determinded later.
1. I will send an e-mail out to the entire neighborhood – THIS IS IT
2. We need to get a count of people that will attend – WE WILL NEED RSVP
3. We need a couple of grills (we will pay for the propane from the grant) – Have 2 we can use
4. We need to ask the attendees to bring their own soda/water – mentioned on invite
5. What type of arts things should we get?
6. We need some tables for the art items? –
7. We need people to bring their own chairs/blankets for the kids, etc?
8. Maybe people could volunteer to bring some chips, or a salad, etc., ???
or should we leave it at hamburgers/hot dogs
The above is a SHORT list of things to do.
We have some volunteers already and need a few more people on the team to make decisions and make it happen. Please let me know if you can help.
